This leather is made from French raw hides, using a traditional technique called vachetta tanning. This process involves slowly permeating the raw hides with tannin extracts derived from plants, and then meticulously oiling them with a uniquely blended neat's-foot oil.
Compared to chrome tanning, which uses chemicals, this method takes more time and is therefore more costly, but it is also an environmentally friendly material.
